visit to Ikarus<\/strong>\nWe just spent 2 weeks at Ikarus, and was our second time there. There really is no better place to learn to kitesurf, disconnect from busy-ness and regain your perspective. The lagoon is vast and shallow, the instructors are amazing, and the support of the kite school and jet ski's helps build confidence. The food is super healthy with great variety and in general the staff are so caring and attentive. Every time we have gone there we have met amazing like-minded guests, enjoyed the down-to-earth atmosphere, and beautiful sunsets over the lagoon. My instructor, Enrique, (Kike) was incredibly skilled. He has decades of experience, and his approach to teaching was fantastic. His English was perfect, instructions were clear, and he was consistently encouraging. He allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them, while making safety a first priority. I recommend Ikarus and Kike without reservation! Our room was simple, very clean, and steps from the water. Every staff member was attentive, polite, welcoming and helpful. We had 1 hour massages, and they were wonderful! It was a blast! Kitesurfing: Both the natural conditions and the crew were perfect to learn. My instructor was Enrique, a fantastic guy and teacher. They efficiently teach you how to set up and take care of the equipment, and it's time to go in the water. From there it was super fun to learn and progress. The water is shallow in the entire lagoon, so when falling, you just get up, control your kite and board, and go again! The place: It's not a 5 star hotel with everything you'd find in the US. It's a little piece of quiet paradise. The rooms are simple, clean, and convenient. There are also options to camp. Everyone was super welcoming and nice. I went solo, but ended up seating with fellow visitors or even the family owning the place almost every meal. So I would alternate the days between a few hours of kitesurfing, reading a book, eating, or chatting with a drink.
